CSU Activity Program


The mission of the Department of Health and Exercise Science is to discover and disseminate knowledge in the areas of health and exercise science through academic, research, and outreach programs. Physical activity, wellness, and disease prevention concepts are central to the mission. Thus, the curriculum focuses on health throughout the life span and addresses prevention, intervention, and rehabilitation. The goal of the department is to increase the number of people participating in physical activity and healthy lifestyles consistent with national health goals.

CSU Activity Program

The Department of Health and Exercise Science offers a selection of physical activity courses designed to provide students with quality physical activity skill instruction in a wide variety of sports and physical activities. Through these courses, students will gain knowledge about various sport and exercise activities and develop a better understanding of the value of physical activity as it relates to an improved quality of life.

· HES 100 A-P Beginning Physical Education
Physical activities for the development of personal motor skills.
  • Aerobic Exercise

  • Tennis
  • Volleyball
  • Swimming
  • Golf (requires special fee, $62.00)
  • Basketball
  • Racquetball
  • Weight Training
  • Ice Skating (requires special fee, $95.00)
· HES 101 A-P Intermediate Physical Education
Prerequisite: EX100 or meet Departmental standards.

  • Soccer
  • Basketball

  • Aerobics
  • Ice Skating (requires special fee, $95.00)
· HES 102 A-P Special Activities
  • Ultimate Frisbee

  • Conditioning and Fitness

· HES 106 Scuba Diving (requires special fee, $115.00)
Prerequisite: Intermediate swimming ability.
